Where to Farm Iron Ore

Along the Iron River's Riverbanks

The Iron River area is one of the best places to find Iron Ore. Specifically, the eponymous river's shores are common spawn points for Iron Ore. Going up and down the river is a good way to farm this material.

Note that you will need at least a Bronze Pickaxe to be able to mine the Iron Ore rocks.

Get a Digby Boy to Mine the Ore

Another way to get Iron Ore is to have a Digby Boy Deviant mine the ore for them. The best thing about having this Deviant is that you don't have to be in an area with Iron Ore in order for Digby Boy to mine it for you. The Digby Boy can mine ores that are not readily available in your area!

There are many ways to acquire a Digby Boy, but one surefire way is to accomplish a quest from Lowe at Deadsville.

Lowe gives you the Deviation Expert sidequest, and will ask you to catch a Digby Boy in Throughville. It is recommended that you bring 30 Copper Ore to satisfy it. After this, you will be able to capture the Digby Boy.

Iron Ore Overworld Appearance

Iron Ore appears in the overworld as a rock with rust-like stains on it. You can also move closer to a rock, and see if the tooltip indicates that it is Iron Ore.

Iron Ore Uses

Ore Used for Steel Ingots

The main purpose for Iron Ore is to be refined at a Furnace and turned into Steel Ingots.

These ingots can then be used to make advanced tools that surpass Copper and Tin ones, as well as other helpful items and facilities that will help with progression.
