These contributions earned them Great House status from the Landsraad and governance over the planet Ix (the ninth world of the Alkalurops system).

Young Dominic Vernius later strengthened the house's position by lending Ixian units to Padishah Emperor Elrood IX. As a reward, House Vernius gained greater influence and control over additional planets. During this period, Dominic befriended Duke Paulus Atreides, creating an alliance that would later play a crucial role in the fate of both houses.

Prince Rhombur's return ignited a full rebellion, and with the help of Atreides forces, Ix was liberated from the Tleilaxu after a bloody battle. The laboratories for producing synthetic melange were destroyed. Prince Rhombur then appeared before the Landsraad and formally restored House Vernius.
