End of Redemption and Rageblade Rework: Massive Item Changes Coming to TFT

16/05/2025

The next TFT update will bring substantial item changes, with Redemption and Runaan's Hurricane being removed entirely and Statikk Shiv becoming an artifact. Several items are getting reworked, including Guinsoo's Rageblade with a new passive, Sterak's Gage with increased stats, and the introduction of new artifacts like Flickerblade and Indomitable Gauntlet with unique effects.

Major Item Overhaul Coming to TFT

A massive transformation of the item system is on its way to Teamfight Tactics in the upcoming patch. This update introduces significant changes to familiar items, with some being completely replaced, others reworked, and several new artifacts joining the roster.

✓ Items Being Replaced

Three long-standing items will be removed from the standard pool, with new items taking their place:

Removed Item Replacement New Stats and Effects
Redemption Spirit Visage
  • 150 HP
    15 Mana
    10% Durability
Restores 2.5% missing HP every second
Runaan's Hurricane Kraken Slayer
  • 25 AD
    10% attack speed
    20 magic resist
    Attacks add 3% stacking AD
Statikk Shiv Void Staff
  • 35% AP
    15 mana
    10% attack speed
Attacks and magic damage reduce target's magic resist by 30% for 3 seconds (doesn't stack)

💡 Pro tip: Spirit Visage will excel on frontline units with high base HP, especially those who cast frequently to benefit from the mana component.

Item Reworks: New Functionality for Familiar Equipment

Several existing items are getting significant reworks to their functionality and stat distribution:

✓ Guinsoo's Rageblade Transformation

The iconic Rageblade is getting a fundamental change to its passive effect:

  • Old Effect: Attacks add 5% stacking attack speed
  • New Effect: Adds 6% attack speed every second
  • Unchanged: 10% AP and 10% attack speed base stats

This change makes Rageblade more consistent regardless of the unit's base attack speed and removes the need to stack it through attacks.

✓ Sterak's Gage Power-Up

Sterak's is becoming significantly more powerful:

  • Health: 150 → 250
  • Attack Damage: 15 → 30
  • Omnivamp: 0 → 10%
  • Shield Effect: After dropping below 60% HP, gain a shield equal to 80% of maximum HP that decays over 4 seconds

⚠️ Important change: With the addition of Omnivamp and increased stats, Sterak's Gage becomes a premier item for AD carries and bruisers.

✓ Guardbreaker → Striker's Flail

This item is being renamed and reworked:

  • New Name: Striker's Flail (formerly Guardbreaker)
  • Stats: 150 HP, 15% attack speed, 20% crit chance, 10% damage increase
  • Effect: Critical hits add 5% increased damage for 5 seconds, stacking up to three times

New Artifacts Entering the Battlefield

The update introduces several powerful new artifacts, offering unique strategies and build paths:

✓ Flickerblade

A new scaling item perfect for auto-attackers:

  • 15% attack speed
  • 10 AD and AP
  • Attacks add 5% stacking attack speed. Every 5 attacks also add 4 AD and 5 AP.

✓ Indomitable Gauntlet

A powerful tank item with crowd control effects:

  • 450 HP
  • 20 armor and magic resist
  • Significantly reduces movement speed
  • Grants 10% maximum HP, stun immunity, and pulls current targets toward the unit (similar to the Deep Root anomaly from previous set)

✓ Statikk Shiv (New Artifact Version)

Statikk Shiv isn't being removed entirely but promoted to artifact status:

  • 25 AP
  • 20% attack speed
  • Every three attacks deal 50 + 50% AP as bonus magic damage to 4 enemies

✓ Titanic Hydra

A powerful splash damage item:

  • 300 Health
  • 15 AD
  • 15 Attack Speed
  • Attacks deal 3% maximum HP + 25% AD as bonus physical damage to the target and all units around it

Strategic Implications of These Changes

These item changes will significantly impact the TFT meta:

  1. Tank items are getting stronger with Spirit Visage and Indomitable Gauntlet
  2. Attack speed scaling is being redistributed with the Rageblade changes
  3. Magic resist reduction is now accessible through Void Staff
  4. Area damage options are expanding with the new Titanic Hydra

💡 Pro tip: With these changes, flexible item planning becomes even more important. Consider holding component items until you've seen what units you're getting, as the optimal items for each carry may shift.

When to Expect These Changes

These substantial item changes are expected to arrive with the next major TFT patch. Players can already test them on the PBE (Public Beta Environment) to get a feel for how they'll impact different compositions and strategies.

The development team has indicated they'll be monitoring these changes closely, so minor adjustments may occur before the official release based on player feedback and testing data.
