Dune: Awakening – Patch Notes 1.1.0.0: Deep Desert Revolution and PvP/PvE Improvements
Dune: Awakening receives a major update with a complete Deep Desert system overhaul. PvE area now encompasses the entire southern half of the map, while Scout Ornithopters get speed nerfs when using rockets. Player reporting added and sietch visit restrictions removed.

Key Deep Desert Changes 🏜️
As outlined in the Creative Director's message on PvE and PvP, this hotfix brings the first iteration of changes to the balance between PvE and PvP content in the Deep Desert. Developers promise to continue listening to feedback and making further adjustments.
New PvE Areas
The PvE area has been expanded to encompass the entire southern half of the Deep Desert map. This means players who have no interest in PvP should be able to find what they need without engaging in PvP combat.
What does this mean for the average player? Imperial Testing Stations, caves, and other locations in this area are now PvE, so you don't have to worry about attacks from other players.
What Remains PvP
Control Points and Shipwrecks will continue to be PvP throughout the entire map. This means you'll find localized pockets of PvP within the PvE section still, similar to how Shipwrecks are PvP in Hagga Basin.
Risk vs. Reward System 📈
To retain the Risk vs. Reward setup for the Deep Desert, these changes were implemented:
Resource Density
✓ Resource density increases the further north you go
✓ Includes high-density clusters of valuable resources
✓ Largest spice fields will spawn in the north
✓ Majority of Control Points exist in the northern part
Loot Balancing
The lower half of Deep Desert now offers PvE loot balanced toward shared loot and PvE activities. You may find better loot in the more dangerous PvP area located further north on the map.
In PvE areas:
- Each player gets their own loot
- Can expect to receive one schematic
- Safer farming with guaranteed rewards
In PvP areas:
- Loot distributed on "first come, first served" basis
- Higher quantities of everything
- Players can expect 2-6 schematics, which are among the rarest
Resource and Spawn Changes ⚙️
Spice Field Adjustments
- Active medium spice fields reduced from 8 to 5
- Small spice fields increased from 20 to 22
- Titanium and Stravidium spawn rate reduced in PvE areas
Respawn Timing
- Titanium and Stravidium respawn time increased from 30 to 45 minutes
- Number of nodes in resource hotspots in PvE part of map reduced
💡 Pro tip: Some Imperial Testing Stations are still in the PvP region. Players who want all schematics available each week will want to visit both PvP and PvE stations.
Vehicles and Scout Ornithopters 🚁
Rocket Module Nerfs
Developers have begun work on the outlined changes to Scout Ornithopters:
- Equipping Rocket Launcher Module now decreases top speed of your Ornithopter
- For Scout Ornithopters: 20% speed reduction
- For Assault Ornithopters: 10% speed reduction
- Infocards for modules now reflect this change
Better Vehicle Handling
⚠️ Exiting ornithopters mid-air will now cause them to drop straight down instead of gliding away. This should decrease the chance that you lose your ornithopter upon disconnecting from the game or accidentally exiting your ornithopter mid-air.
Known Issue: If your vehicle ends up in quicksand, you might not be able to interact with it if you're also in the quicksand. Workaround is to try to get on top of the vehicle to interact with it.
Sietch Visits and Bases 🏠
Restriction Removal
Removed restrictions when visiting other sietches:
✓ Before players had their "home" sietches and could visit other sietches in their world but couldn't claim land
✓ Now any player can go to any sietch in their world and claim land wherever they want
✓ Respawn beacons can be placed on any sietch in your world
UI Changes
As a result of this change, the home icon on server selection screen, which previously indicated your home server, now indicates on what server you have a base. Similarly, a vehicle icon shows where you have vehicles.
Player Reporting and Moderation 🚨
New Reporting System
Player Reporting has been introduced, allowing players to:
- Report other players' messages from text chat
- Report players from the Inspect menu on players
- Better community moderation tools
Technical Fixes and Stability 🔧
General Improvements
✓ Increased game stability overall
✓ Latest NVIDIA driver added to GPU driver check at game launch
✓ Closed several exploit vulnerabilities as continuous effort
Combat Fixes
- Fixed issue where players performing melee attacks could get obstructed by corpses lying on the ground
UI Fixes
- Fixed guild faction alignment not being localized on Guild Overview tab
- Fixed black screen if players skipped cinematic at "The Wreck of the Hephaestus"
- Fixed Sandbike research schematics failing to mention Imperial Testing Stations as primary source
Travel Fixes
- Fixed issue where players could use ornithopter pilot service to fly from cities to Hagga Basin if they had arrived in a city with their ornithopter
Additional Minor Changes 🎯
Quality of Life Improvements
- No longer lose learned emotes when respec'ing skill tree
- Fixed infinite loading screen issues with specific network problems
- Fixed client freeze when traveling between Deep Desert servers
Long-Term Impact of Changes 📊
PvE Community Benefits
PvE players finally get meaningful access to endgame content without PvP requirements. The southern half of Deep Desert provides safe environment for farming with guaranteed rewards.
PvP Balance Adjustments
PvP areas retain their high risk, high reward nature with better loot and more schematics. Scout Ornithopter nerfs should improve ground combat dynamics.
Community Building
Removal of sietch restrictions allows for greater community interaction and more flexible base building strategies across different servers.
Final Summary
Patch 1.1.0.0 represents a significant step forward in addressing community concerns about PvE/PvP balance. Deep Desert changes provide more options for different playstyles, while vehicle adjustments improve combat balance.
Recommendations:
- PvE players - explore the southern half of Deep Desert for safe farming
- PvP players - focus on northern areas for best loot and intensive combat
- Vehicle pilots - adapt your loadouts to new speed penalties for rocket modules
- Base builders - utilize new flexibility in sietch visits for better locations

FAQ
Q: Can I still get all schematics in PvE areas only?
A: No, some Imperial Testing Stations remain in PvP regions. For all schematics each week, you'll need to visit both PvP and PvE stations, or trade through the Exchange.
Q: How much slower are Scout Ornithopters with rockets now?
A: Scout Ornithopters with Rocket Launcher modules have a 20% top speed reduction, Assault Ornithopters only 10%. They're still fast but less dominant in combined usage.
Q: Can I now build a base on any sietch?
A: Yes, restrictions have been removed. You can visit any sietch in your world and claim land wherever you want, plus place respawn beacons.
Q: Are Plasteel plates still only available in PvP zones?
A: No, this information was inaccurate. Plasteel plates can also be obtained from crashing ships, so they're not exclusively PvP.
Q: How often do Titanium and Stravidium nodes respawn?
A: Respawn time was increased from 30 to 45 minutes, plus spawn rate was reduced in PvE areas, so large quantities only spawn in far-out PvP areas.
