Call of Duty: Warzone Temporarily Disables Ranked Play
Ranked Play mode in Call of Duty: Warzone has been temporarily suspended due to technical issues that emerged following the Season 3 Reloaded update. While other players can enjoy the new features, competitive mode enthusiasts will have to wait for a fix.

Why Was Ranked Play Disabled?
According to the official Call of Duty Updates account on X (formerly Twitter), Ranked Play in Warzone was temporarily deactivated due to two main issues:
- Server Outages - Many players reported frequent disconnects and server crashes
- Skill Rating Problems - Developers noticed an increase in cases where players weren't properly awarded Skill Rating (SR) points after matches
Raven Software, the development team behind Warzone, suspended the mode to properly investigate and fix these issues. Game Rant

With ongoing investigations into the server disconnects, as well as a recent rise in players not being properly awarded SR, we have made the decision to disable Ranked Play: Battle Royale in Call of Duty: #Warzone. The playlist will be updating shortly…
What Did the Season 3 Reloaded Update Bring?
Ironically, the Season 3 Reloaded update that added plenty of new content to Verdansk also brought these technical difficulties. The mid-season update, which released on May 1, 2025, included:
- Opening of the Train Station's east wing in Verdansk with new routes and better loot
- Return of the iconic train traveling across the map, which also offers a repeating Recon Contract
- Addition of the Triumph TF 250-X motorcycle from Rebirth Island to Verdansk
- New High Value Loot Zones with valuable loot for brave players
- Two new contracts - Train Recon and Big Game Bounty
And of course, the big news was Battle Royale Ranked Play, which appeared in Verdansk for the first time in history. Unfortunately, as we now know, this mode had to be deactivated shortly after launch.
How Did the Community React?
The community's reaction to the disabling of Ranked Play was predominantly negative. Many players expressed their frustration regarding Ranked Play and server outages already during the past week. Some are disappointed that network issues have been a constant problem in Ranked Play since the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Game Rant

What Can Players Do in the Meantime?
Although developers haven't yet set an exact date for when Ranked Play will be reactivated, players can try other new content that Season 3 Reloaded brought in the meantime:
- Blaze of Glory Event - A themed event where players can earn Blaze Bucks from crates and eliminated enemies
- High Trip Resurgence - A limited-time game mode where players spawn with random weapons and must search for Shades in supply crates
- Massive Resurgence - A mode for 120 players coming later in the season
Players have until May 15 to earn cosmetic rewards from the Blaze of Glory event before the next event begins.

My Thoughts on the Situation
As a long-time Call of Duty player, I must say this isn't the first time developers have had to deactivate a game feature due to technical issues. Unfortunately, this tends to happen especially after major updates. It's certainly disappointing for competitive players who were looking forward to Ranked Play in Verdansk, but I appreciate that Raven Software identified the problem and is trying to fix it quickly.
The good news is that other Season 3 Reloaded content is working, and players can enjoy classic modes on Verdansk. Whether it's a nostalgic train ride or exploring the newly opened east wing of the train station, there's still plenty of content.
If you're a Ranked Play fan, you'll unfortunately have to wait a bit longer. Keep an eye on the official Call of Duty social media accounts for the latest information on when the mode will be relaunched.
Personally, I understand players' frustration, but I also see that the developers took quick action this time. All we can do is hope that the fix comes soon and Ranked Play returns in full force. I'll keep monitoring the situation and bring you the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
