Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Confirms Another Double XP Event for May 2025

Are you among those players who are struggling to complete their Battle Pass before the season ends? Good news, as according to the official in-game event tab, a new Double XP event for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone has been set for May 15. While it's currently unconfirmed whether the event will also feature double Battle Pass XP, you can look forward to another weekend of double level XP and double weapon XP across all game modes.

For you, if you haven't yet leveled up the returning Modern Warfare weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 3, Double XP events are a great opportunity to max out these weapons and unlock all available attachments. The latest season kicked off in April with the highly anticipated return of Verdansk to Call of Duty: Warzone, along with weapons such as the Kilo 141, CR-56 AMAX, and HDR Sniper Rifle making their return. For many weeks, AMAX and HDR dominated Warzone, but a recent update has nerfed these two iconic weapons and drastically lowered some of their vital stats.

When Is the Next Call of Duty Double XP Event? (May 2025)

According to the official in-game event tab for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the new Double XP event is set to begin on Thursday, May 15. Treyarch Studios has yet to make an official announcement regarding the next Call of Duty event, so the duration of this weekend's Double XP event is currently unknown. If it's anything like past Double XP events, it will likely end on Monday, May 19. It's also unclear whether the event will feature double Battle Pass XP, along with the usual double weapon and level XP.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 recently received its big Season 3 Reloaded update, which means the current season is coming to an end. With Season 4 rumored for the end of May, a new Double XP event with double Battle Pass XP wouldn't be much of a surprise, as Treyarch has been known to save Double Battle Pass XP for the end of a season. Details on Season 4 are currently scarce, but the big content update will likely be similar to its predecessors, with new Multiplayer maps, weapons, modes, and more.

The upcoming season is also likely to continue evolving Verdansk in Call of Duty: Warzone. This iconic map triumphantly returned with Season 3 in April and was recently updated with some returning features. Ascenders (vertical ropes) are now on a handful of building exteriors, allowing you to easily scale certain locations. The mid-season update also saw the return of the iconic train, which is now once again circling Verdansk. Raven Software has promised fans that Verdansk isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so there are likely even more features planned for Season 4 and beyond.

My Thoughts on Double XP Events in Black Ops 6

As a long-time Call of Duty player, I must say that Double XP events are always a welcome addition. Especially now, with Season 3 coming to an end, it's the perfect opportunity to complete your Battle Pass and max out weapons you haven't had time for yet. Personally, I'm happy that these events have become a regular part of the game cycle.

Regarding the nerfing of AMAX and HDR weapons, it's not surprising. Both weapons have dominated meta loadouts since the beginning of Season 3, and Raven Software traditionally adjusts overpowered weapons mid-season. For a new meta loadout, I would recommend trying a combination of Kilo 141 for medium range and one of the newer Black Ops sniper rifles for long-range engagements.
